P1230342Basic ingredients: The chief ingredient at The Kids’ Kitchen is fun. The team knows that its playful approach to cooking is the best way to engage the imagination of budding chefs. This might mean colouring handmade pasta with beetroot or creating carrot and olive penguins and chocolate graveyard pots, but while they’re having fun, the little ones will be learning. Teamwork, kitchen skills and the appreciation of a range of fresh produce (all meat-free) are all emphasised in classes that run during school holidays, on Sunday mornings and during the week for pre-schoolers. Holiday hands-on workshops and Sunday classes accommodate up to 8 children, from age 5 upwards, and cost £30. Hour-long pre-school classes cost £10 and are for 2 to 5 year olds. Everything is provided, including ingredients, aprons and a take-home recipe booklet. Bespoke birthday parties can be booked  (prices start at £250), including a surprise treat for birthday boy/girl and the tidy-up afterwards. Young Adult classes are £40, last 2 hours and can contribute a new skill towards the Duke of Edinburgh award. For the same price, adult workshops include a glass of wine.

They say: Our aim is to help kids learn to cook and, by working with different recipes and ingredients, teach them about healthy eating and help broaden their palate. Above all, we want them to have fun.

We say: A plethora of positive testimonials from delighted parents suggest the Kids’ Kitchen know how to nourish their pint-sized participants’ bodies and minds. They have also attracted attention from local press and Net Mums, who awarded them winner of Barnet’s Best Pre-school class.

Nicole has taught my kids during school holidays at her Kids’ Kitchen camp and they always try new foods and thoroughly enjoy it. She also uses good quality ingredients.

  2. Alexis says:

The Kids kitchen is fantastic – my son always has a great time and often tries foods he would not touch at home. Nicole always sends emails to parents with photos of the sessions – full of smiling faces and empty plates!

  3. Naomi Simons says:

Nicole ran a fabulous party for our ten year old daughter. It was age appropriate and great fun. Nicole even managed to cater for our son who has an allergy to milk so it was wonderful that he could take part. Nicole is running another party for us this year for a group of six year olds and we are all very excited.

My daughter Anahi who’s 5, has been going to Nicole’s Kids Kitchen for almost 2 years now. She absolutely loves it. The ingredients are always fresh, the food delicious and the whole experience is so much fun for her. It’s really piqued her interest in cooking and trying different kinds of food. She has been to a few different cooking classes but none of them seem to compare with Nicole’s which she thoroughly enjoys. I think the number of kids Nicole has in every class is ideal as she’s able to give each child that personal assistance and yet there’s enough kids in each class to make it seem like a small fun party.

Nicole has hosted parties for both of our kids and everyone had a fantastic time! The food they made was delicious and we had lots of positive feedback from our friends. The birthday child was made to feel special and our house was left spotless afterwards. Highly recommended!

My Kids thoroughly enjoy Kids kitchen. Its always top of the list for activities in school holidays. Nicole teaches them exciting and healthy recipes. She always encourages them to try new healthy foods. I’m always excited to have a little taste of their goodies and I know they are in a safe and caring environment.

Thanks for a lovely afternoon, Jamie had a great time baking. He loves it and would like to come back for more lessons… in fact I was enjoying the experience too!

  8. Sarah Maranzana says:

My son James started Kids’ Kitchen when he was 3 1/2, he loved the pre-school classes and I really enjoyed them too! Nicole is fab with the children! The classes are so well structured and the children are kept busy every minute. Now James is 5 1/2 and he attends the older classes in the holidays. I can’t believe how much Nicole cooks with the children in 3 hours.

  9. Hayley Collins says:

My daughter recently had an 8th birthday party and we had a cooking party with Kids Kitchen. I have to say, it is one of the best and easiest parties I have done. We had the party at our house, and Kids Kitchen arrived, set up everything (I didn’t have to provide or do anything) and as soon as the girls arrived they were busy straight away making chocolate brownies, mousse and decorating cupcakes. The girls had such a great time and went home with big chocolate smiles.

My children had an amazing time at the Kids’ Kitchen. They cooked food that they had never tasted before and the whole experience encouraged them to become more adventurous with food. They are desperate to return for another session!

Love these pictures! Many thanks Nicole for running these fantastic cooking lessons. Roxanna has really enjoyed these sessions. I will definitlely book her for more lessons during half term.

Both my children aged 7 and 5 love the Kids Kitchen. It’s great that it is an activity they can do together. Every time they leave they are full of excitement and can’t wait to go back again! The treats they bring home for mummy are also great!

  13. Simone says:

I can’t praise Nicole at the Kids’ Kitchen highly enough! Both my kids adore her classes. They are very different eaters – my daughter will eat anything and everything, so it’s been great for her to try things I wouldn’t ordinarily cook at home. My son is the fussy eater and the format Nicole use has really encouraged him to try new foods and be a little more adventurous. The take-home recipes are so useful – simple to follow and always work. Overall a great concept, executed to perfection!

Have attended a couple of brilliant adult cake decorating evenings at The Kids’ Kitchen – a relaxing and fun way to spend a couple hours being creative. Nicole supplied the cakes and every kind of icing, colouring and sprinkles you could imagine, gave us lots of fantastic tips and advice, and then let us loose. Would do it again – and would highly recommend it. The Kids’ Kitchen is definitely not just for kids…!

  15. Tamara Persey says:

My kids both did a summer holiday workshop at The Kids Kitchen and loved it. They came home with an understanding of the raw ingredients that go into making a dish and my son, in particular, was inspired to try new food and has continued to do this a year on.

  16. Rozi Brickman says:

My son, age 8, and my daughter, age 10, attended a summer holiday cooking course and came home buzzing with excitement about cooking, confident in their own ability to create something tasty that all the family can enjoy eating, and had a fun, social time whilst at The Kids Kitchen. Thank you so much.

  17. Natalie says:

Nicole made a fantastic gluten free party for my daughter, Katie, for her 9th birthday. It was a chocolate party which also included delicious cupcakes. Nicole was very professional and my kitchen was spotless when the children had gone home. Katie said it was her best party ever!

  18. Will W says:

I did my Duke of Edinburgh bronze skill award cooking with 3 friends and Nicole supervising. We all really enjoyed it, learning new skills and having fun at the same time. Chocolate brownies were delicious and the quick easy recipe for macaroni cheese is scrumptious.
