As far as we are aware Bunratty Cookery School is now closed.
Basic ingredients: Flying the flag for County Clare and the surrounding region, Donnagh Gregson (pictured, right) brings her years of experience as a professional chef to the table of her cookery school where she offers good value, hands-on courses. Currently it’s a fairly intimate set up – but soon to be moving to larger premises down the road – with classes of no more than ten students taking place in an extension of Gregson’s rather nice home. Full-day courses – that’s 9am to 5pm – such as Quick Suppers and Simply Fish, typically cost about £105.
They say: Where possible we use produce from our own raised vegetable beds and walled herb garden. We really believe that anyone can learn to cook; it’s not just a basic necessity for a healthy life, it’s a passion that will last a lifetime.
We say: Gregson has two of the most essential ingredients of a good cookery school teacher – she is encouraging and able to share practical skills. Like many cookery schools this is a family business but one with a professional sheen. There are accommodation tie-ins available locally, including at Bunratty Castle Hotel.
