Basic ingredients: Former cook to royalty Penny Lewis runs a selection of residential and one-day cookery courses from her cottage near Wales’s foodie capital Abergavenny. As well as a Basics 5-day course there are Dinner Parties Made Stressless, Student Survival and specialist Aga courses – the latter is called “An Aga Can”. There are also courses for more advanced cooks and small classes to ensure everyone is fully involved.
They say: The Culinary Cottage enjoys beautiful mountain views and is ideally located for walking off all the food students have prepared and consumed during the day.
We say: This is a good place to get stuck in to a few days of cooking and make use of the comfy on-site accommodation. The two-day Gentlemen Please course should add a few strings to most men’s culinary bow.

My sister and I had a fantastic time at the Culinary Cottage attending the Taster Day. We learnt so much from Penny and she was so calm and organised in the kitchen it made the day so relaxing. Couldn’t believe how much we learnt and ate in one day! We can’t wait to test our new skills on our families and friends!
