MincePiesCookeryCoursesCHRISTMAS REHEARSAL
Cookery School, London
Saturday 30th November 2013
10am – 4pm, £230

Our Best City Cookery School 2013 winners aim to help remove the stress from Christmas day with an all-encompassing Christmas dinner class, led by Rosalind Rathouse and her top team. Not only will students learn how to time the turkey and trimmings to perfection, they will also make cranberry sauce, stuffing, bread sauce, Christmas cake and mince pie filling, with recipes, to take home in advance of the big day. With a class that includes breakfast, Christmas lunch, a special Christmas ice cream and plenty of organic wine, it seems Christmas really has come early to Little Portland Street.

AUTHENTIC ITALIAN XMAS

Edinburgh New Town Cookery School

Saturday 30th November 2013

9.45am – 4.00pm, £170

On this one-day workshop, Italian head chef Mattia Camorani will demonstrate authentic dishes inspired by his home region of Bologna, the capital of Emilia-Romagna, inspiring students to really “ciao-down” on Christmas day. Winners of our Best Diploma Course for 2013, ENTCS have always remained dedicated to professionalism and authenticity, and this class is no exception, with a menu that includes cappelletti in brodo di cappone (a fresh pasta with capon stock) and sfomatino di panettone con frutta fresca (panettone flan with fresh fruit). The day involves coffee, demonstration, plenty of hands-on cookery, lunch with wine and food and recipes to take home.

VEGAN CHRISTMAS DESSERTS

Demuths Vegetarian Cookery School

Sunday 1st December 2013

10.00am – 4.00pm, £150

Such is the admiration in her home town Bath, and nationwide, for our Best Cookery School Tutor, Rachel Demuth, that Vegan Christmas Desserts has become a full-day course in answer to popular demand. This proves there is still room for Christmas spirit, festive cheer and yuletide indulgence when it comes to vegan puds made without eggs or butter. Students tackle eight brand new recipes for cakes and bakes, that are simply sweet treats. There will be plenty to scoff and take home along with recipes, after a day that combines cookery, demonstration, a savoury lunch with wine and, needless to say, dessert.

FESTIVE THREE BIRD ROAST

The School of Artisan Food

Thursday 12th December 2013

18.45pm – 21.30pm, £18

Much like the bird, a lot is crammed into this short course, which begins with mulled cider and mince pies and a lesson in cooking this tasty trinity of turkey, duck and chicken. Over in Nottinghamshire, at our favourite country cookery school for 2013, expert butcher Andrew Sharp will lead the demonstration and share his top tips for Christmas cookery.

PANETTONE AND MINCE PIES FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN/TEENS

Cambridge Cookery School

Saturday 14th December 2013

10.00am – 1.00pm, £65

Christmas is a family affair in Cambridge with our all-round champion hosts, Tina Roche and co. As a school that excels in baked delights, what better way to indulge early and treat the kids to a taste of Christmas cheer with festive fancies that will also make filling the stockings, and those hungry mouths, a cinch. Winter warmers, of the intoxicating and child-friendly varieties, are provided and the price is for two guests, with an option of £15 per additional child.

CHRISTMAS COOKERY PARTY

Tideswell School of Food

Friday 20th December 2013

10.30am – 2.30pm, £500

We would expect nothing less than a Christmas Cracker from the 2013 winner in our Best Food Experience category and, like Santa himself, they’ve delivered the goods. This is a four-hour Christmas party, without “the cheesy 80’s disco pop”, for a private booking of up to 12 people to enjoy hands-on cookery, a festive feast and tempting tipples. Friends, family or colleagues can choose from themes such as All the Trimmings, Indian or Thai Banquet, or Middle Eastern Mezze, or arrange a bespoke session. There is no online booking, so secure your spot by calling them on 01298 871262 or emailing info@tideswellschooloffood.co.uk
