Basic ingredients: Based in South Kensington, the original kitchenware shop, Divertimenti, offers several classes and demonstrations a day run by some of the best in the business. The two or three-hour classes are accessible and affordable and cover subjects such as An Introduction to Sauces, Gluten-Free Baking and Southeast Asian Street Food and even include classes for AGA devotees. Classes take up to 34 people for demonstrations or smaller groups of up to 12 for hands-on lessons. There are also longer courses such as the eight-part Cooking with Confidence or the two-day Pastry Masterclass. Classes for young children and teenagers are offered during school holidays.
They say: The class schedule represents a world tour of cuisines from Thai to Tuscan with each class taught by an expert in the field.
We say: Book early for popular classes such as the Knife Skills Hands-On Masterclass and Mastering Macaroons. All classes include tastings of each dish at demonstrations or a meal with wine at hands-on classes, as well as recipe packs and a 10 per cent discount in the kitchenware shop afterwards.
