Basic Ingredients: An offshoot of the famous organic emporium in the Cotswolds run by Lady Bamford, the cookery school is one of the few in the country to use organic ingredients. Housed in a barn kitchen straight out of the pages of Homes and Gardens magazine, the decor combines countrified chic punctuated by herb plants and the latest equipment. Courses are seasonally focused and use meat and vegetables from the farm. One and two-day courses cover Sustainable Fish and Shellfish, Dairy, Artisan Breadmaking and a Holistic healthy eating day in conjunction with the spa.
They say: We use fresh produce from our market garden, and the meat of the organic animals from our farm. All ingredients are natural and at their very best: in season.
We say: Daylesford is like Disney World for the farmers’ market going classes. It’s a seductive place to make a day or night of it: there is a cafe and accommodation on site in Honeysuckle Cottage. Out of the kitchen, the Daylesford Farm School offers hands-on courses, hosted by organic farmers and artisan craft people with personal experience, in growing your own food, rearing animals and poultry, country cooking and rural crafts.
