Basic ingredients: London institution and lifestyle company, Bourne & Hollingsworth, has scaled the heights of creative endeavour – and its Clerkenwell buildings – to bring us the B&H Kitchen, situated on the top floor of its HQ. Award-winning chef-tutor, Adam Gray, has trained with Bruno Loubet and at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons so expect tip-top tuition. A concise list of classes, suited to all levels, aim to entertain and inform. Knife Skills, Vegetables and Healthy Eating are taught as three-hour evening classes and cost £60; Bread Making, Butchery and Fish: Filleting and Cooking, run from 10am to 4pm and cost £125. Bespoke classes, client entertaining and team building are also available as daytime or evening sessions. At the end of the day, students gather around the grand farmhouse dinner table to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
They say: The classes are designed specifically to reflect our distinctively British and unfussy style of cooking and students will learn to execute both basic dishes and celebratory meals for special occasions.
We say: Relaxed and refreshingly different. It’s easy to leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city once you step into the B&H kitchen. In a nod to the British countryside, the unique interior has potted plants hanging from the rafters, a central, dining table recess stocked with fresh vegetables and whitewashed stone walls offset by an earthy green trim.
