Taught from Cordon Bleu cook Gilli Cliff’s country cottage, these courses won’t break the bank at £35 for the day, which includes wine and a three course lunch.

If the website is anything to go by, man about town Brown runs a ship-shape school offering a wide choice of hands-on courses. Fine dining dictates with half and full day tuition covering Chocolate and Sugarwork, Fish and Shellfish and Michelin Star cookery.

If you ‘plan to cook’ healthy, simple and cost effective fare, you could choose from Cupcake, Dinner Party, Vegetarian or Authentic Indian classes taught by a mother-of-three near Norwich city centre. Just 4 people per class and £35 for 3 hours serve to keep cost and stress levels low.

Weekend of Cooking at Kilcoe Cottage, Ballydehob, Co. Cork

Experienced yacht chef Sharon Murphy offers culinary weekend breaks at her spacious holiday home in West Cork. Large rooms are for a minimum 4 people to share at a cost of €345 each. This includes all food, drink and cookery lessons, with themes such as Thai, Family Food and baking.
